Working with Transcripts
Every video in your library that has audio comes with an automatically generated transcript. Transcripts are the foundation of many StarZero Agents features -- they power search, captions, and much of the AI's understanding of your content.
Viewing Transcripts
You can ask for transcripts in several ways:
- Full transcript: "Give me the transcript of this video"
- Specific section: "Show me the transcript from 2:00 to 5:00"
- By topic: "Show the part of the transcript where they discuss pricing"
What's Included
Transcripts come with helpful details:
- Timing information -- each line is linked to a specific point in the video, so you know exactly when something was said
- Speaker identification -- when the AI can distinguish between speakers, it labels who said what (this works best with clearly different voices). You can rename speaker labels to use actual names instead of generic labels like "Speaker 1"
- Word-level timings -- for precise work like fixing captions, StarZero Agents knows exactly when each individual word was spoken
Visual Descriptions
Transcripts cover what was said, but sometimes you also need to know what was shown. You can ask for visual descriptions alongside or instead of the transcript:
- "Describe the visuals for this video shot by shot"
- "What's happening on screen during the introduction?"
Visual descriptions tell you what appears in each shot -- useful for understanding b-roll footage, silent segments, or videos where the visuals tell a different story than the audio.
How Transcripts Power Other Features
You don't always need to look at transcripts directly. Behind the scenes, they enable:
- Search -- when you search for a phrase, StarZero Agents searches through transcripts to find matches
- Captions -- auto-generated captions are built from transcript data
- Caption fixing -- word-level timings let you correct caption text and timing with precision
- Analysis -- summaries, theme extraction, and other analysis features rely on transcript content
Tips for Working with Transcripts
- If a transcript seems inaccurate (names, jargon, or unusual terms), you can ask StarZero Agents to correct specific parts when generating captions
- For videos without speech, transcripts won't be available, but visual descriptions still work
- Long transcripts are easier to work with when you ask for specific sections rather than the entire thing at once
