Settings and Configuration

StarZero Agents's settings let you customize how the AI works, teach it reusable skills, connect external tools, and manage your recipe library. Most users can work with the defaults right out of the box — settings are there when you want to fine-tune the experience.

Accessing Settings

Click Customize in the sidebar to open the Customize page. You'll find four tabs:

Agents

Control which AI models power each agent and add custom rules to shape their behavior. This is where you go if you want the AI to follow specific guidelines or prefer a particular model.

Skills

Create reusable instructions that the AI can load on demand. Skills are perfect for workflows, brand guidelines, or creative approaches you use across multiple conversations.

External Plugins

Connect StarZero Agents to outside tools and services through the MCP plugin system. This extends what the AI can do beyond its built-in capabilities.

Cookbook

Manage your recipe library — the step-by-step templates for common video creation tasks. Add, edit, or remove custom recipes here.

Do I Need to Change Settings?

For most users, no. StarZero Agents's defaults are designed to work well for the most common workflows. You can start creating content immediately without touching the settings.

Consider customizing if you:

  • Have brand guidelines or style rules the AI should always follow
  • Want to save reusable instructions as skills for common workflows
  • Want to try different AI models for different tasks
  • Need to connect external tools or services
  • Want to create custom recipes for your team's workflows

How Settings Work

Settings apply to new chats you start after saving. If a chat you already have open is using different settings from the ones you've saved, a banner will appear above the message input letting you know. You can click Update to reload your saved settings into that chat, or Dismiss to keep things as they are. You can also type /reload-settings in the chat to do the same thing manually.

This means you can set up your preferences once and every new conversation will follow the same rules. For one-off instructions that shouldn't persist, just include them in your chat message instead of adding them to settings.

Unsaved Changes

If you've made changes and try to navigate away from the Customize page without saving, a prompt will appear asking if you'd like to save or discard your changes. The Save Changes button is only active when you've modified something, so you can always tell at a glance whether there are unsaved edits.
