Selecting Content for Projects
Before you start chatting with StarZero Agents, you have the option to pre-select specific videos from your library. This is a simple but powerful way to focus the conversation on exactly the content you care about.
How Selection Works
When you open a new chat, you'll see your library in the sidebar. You can either:
- Select specific videos — Click to choose one or more items from your library
- Select nothing — Leave the selection empty to give StarZero Agents access to your entire library
Both approaches are perfectly valid. The right choice depends on what you're trying to do.
When to Pre-Select Content
Pre-selecting is especially useful when:
- You know exactly which videos you want to work with
- You're building a highlight reel from a specific set of recordings
- You want to compare two or three specific pieces side by side
- You're focused on a particular shoot or event
When you pre-select content, StarZero Agents skips the usual confirmation step before working with those videos -- it knows you've already chosen them, so it gets straight to work. This makes conversations faster and more seamless.
For example, if you filmed a three-part interview series and only want to pull clips from Part 2, select just that video before you start chatting.
When to Leave Selection Open
Skip pre-selection when:
- You want to search broadly across everything in your library
- You're not sure which videos contain what you're looking for
- You want StarZero Agents to surprise you with the best matches from all available content
Selection Is Locked After Your First Message
Just like library selection, your content selection is locked in once you send your first message. This keeps the conversation consistent and avoids confusion about which videos StarZero Agents is drawing from.
Need to change your selection? Start a new chat and choose differently.
Using @Mentions for On-the-Fly References
Even after the chat has started, you can reference specific media items by typing @ in the chat input. This brings up an autocomplete list of content from your library, letting you point StarZero Agents to a particular video mid-conversation.
This is a great complement to pre-selection — you might start with a broad library and then use @mentions to zero in on specific items as the conversation develops. Learn more about this in Using @Mentions and References.
