Extracting Audio from URLs

Sometimes the perfect audio for your project lives outside your library — maybe it's a track on SoundCloud, a YouTube video with great background music, or a direct link to an audio file. StarZero Agents can extract audio from external URLs and bring it into your project.

How It Works

Just paste a URL into the chat and tell StarZero Agents what you'd like to do with it:

"Add this SoundCloud track as background music: https://soundcloud.com/artist/track-name"

"Extract the audio from this YouTube video and add it to my project: https://youtube.com/watch?v=..."

"Use this audio file as narration: https://example.com/voiceover.mp3"

StarZero Agents saves the media as a persistent file in your chat, extracts the audio, and creates an audio clip you can position on your timeline just like any other audio in your project. Because the file is saved persistently, it remains available for the rest of your session even if the original URL goes down. You can see all saved files in the Files panel.

Supported Sources

StarZero Agents can extract audio from a variety of sources, including:

  • Direct audio links — MP3, WAV, and other audio file URLs
  • SoundCloud — individual tracks
  • YouTube — extracts the audio track from videos
  • Other platforms — if you have a link, just try it

If a source isn't supported, StarZero Agents will let you know.

What You Can Do with Extracted Audio

Once the audio is extracted, it becomes a regular audio clip in your project. That means you can:

  • Position it anywhere on the timeline
  • Trim it with in and out points
  • Adjust its volume
  • Layer it with other audio clips

A Note on Licensing and Rights

This is important: you are responsible for making sure you have the right to use any external audio you bring into your project. StarZero Agents makes it easy to pull in audio from many sources, but that doesn't mean all audio is free to use.

Before using external audio in content you plan to publish, make sure you have the proper licenses or permissions. This applies to music, sound effects, voiceovers, and any other audio you extract from URLs.

Premiere Pro Export

Audio clips extracted from URLs are included in the Premiere Pro project export. The audio files are downloaded and bundled in the ZIP, and placed on audio tracks in the FCP7 XML timeline with their volume and speed settings intact.

One of the Few Ways to Bring in External Content

Extracting audio from URLs is one of several ways to bring content from outside your library into a StarZero Agents project. You can also add video clips from external URLs. Your library content offers the richest feature set (search, transcripts, reframing), but external URLs give you flexibility to pull from the wider web when you need to.
