Adding Text to Videos

Adding text overlays to your video is as simple as describing what you want in the chat. StarZero Agents handles the rest.

Basic Example

"Add the text 'Top 5 Tips' from 0:03 to 0:08."

That's it. StarZero Agents will place the text on your video, visible from the 3-second mark to the 8-second mark.

Configuration Options

You can fine-tune every aspect of your text overlay:

Content

The text that appears on screen. Keep it concise -- shorter text is easier to read on video.

"Add the text 'New Release' ..."

Timing

When the text appears and disappears. Times are in seconds and are relative to your project timeline, not the original source file.

"... from 0:12 to 0:16 ..."

Position

Where on screen the text appears. You can set both horizontal and vertical position:

• Horizontal: left, center, or right
• Vertical: top, center, or bottom

"... at the bottom center ..."

If you don't specify a position, StarZero Agents will choose a sensible default.

Size

How large the text appears. Choose from:

• xsmall -- Very small, for subtle labels
• small -- Compact, good for secondary information
• medium -- Standard size, works for most purposes
• large -- Prominent, good for titles and headings
• xlarge -- Very prominent
• xxlarge -- Bold statement size
• xxxlarge -- Maximum impact

Preset

The visual style of your text. Presets control the font weight, colors, outlines, and backgrounds. See Text Presets for the full list with descriptions.

You can name a preset directly, or ask StarZero Agents to show the preset gallery so you can browse styles visually with live animated previews:

"Show me the text presets"

"... using the Vibe Pop preset."

Rotation

An optional tilt angle in degrees. Use this sparingly for a playful or dynamic feel.

"Tilt 'Chapter 1' by 10 degrees."

Putting It All Together

Here are some complete examples:

"Add 'New Release' from 0:12 to 0:16 at the bottom center, large size, Vibe Pop preset."

"Add 'Chapter 1: Getting Started' in the top left from 0:01 to 0:04, medium size, Typewriter preset."

"Put 'SALE' at the center of the screen from 0:05 to 0:10, xxlarge, Shout Block preset, tilted 5 degrees."

Modifying Existing Text

Once you've added a text overlay, you can change any of its settings:

"Change the text to 'Final Takeaway' and extend it to 0:20."

"Move that text to the top right."

"Make it larger and switch to the Executive preset."

Removing Text

"Remove that text overlay."

"Delete the 'Introduction' text."

Tips

• Keep text short. Viewers only have a few seconds to read it. Aim for a few words, not full sentences.
• Check your timing. Make sure the text appears long enough to read comfortably. A good rule of thumb is at least 2-3 seconds for short text, longer for more words.
• Mind the position. If you have captions enabled, avoid placing text at the bottom where captions typically appear.
• Preview first. Do a low-quality render to see how your text looks before committing to a final version.
• Layer carefully. Multiple overlays at the same time and position will overlap. Spread them out across different positions or time ranges.
