Text-to-Speech Narration

Need a voiceover but don't have a microphone or a voice actor? StarZero Agents can generate spoken narration from text using AI-powered voices. Just type out what you want said, and StarZero Agents will create an audio clip you can add to your project.

Generating Narration

Tell StarZero Agents what you'd like the narration to say:

"Generate narration saying 'Welcome to our product overview'"

"Create a voiceover for this script: In this video, we'll walk you through the top five features of our new platform."

"Generate speech that says 'Subscribe for more tips and tricks every week'"

StarZero Agents will produce an audio clip with a natural-sounding AI voice reading your text. The clip is then ready to be placed on your timeline.

Choosing a Voice

StarZero Agents comes with a curated set of eight professional narrators — four female, four male — ready to go. When you need something more specific, you can search a much larger library of English voices by gender, age, accent, use case (narration, conversational, social media, advertising, educational, entertainment, character voices), and delivery style (calm, deep, upbeat, raspy, energetic, and so on), or by a name or description:

"Show me available voices"

"Find a young, energetic female voice for a social media ad"

"Search for a calm British male narrator"

"Find a movie-trailer voice"

The voice browser shows a preview card for each result so you can listen and compare. Search results list the most popular voices first, and each card shows how many people use the voice where available, along with its gender, age, accent, and style. A Copy button on every card gives you the Voice ID, so you can save a voice you like and request it again in future projects.

When you don't specify a voice, StarZero Agents uses a warm female narrator as the default.

Pacing the Narration

Pace is part of the performance, so ask for it the way you'd direct a voice actor:

"Generate narration at a slow, deliberate pace saying '...'"

"Read this line like you're in a hurry"

The pacing is worked into the read itself, so the voice still sounds natural rather than stretched.

When narration has to land in an exact time window, generate it first and then change the clip's speed on the timeline. As with any clip, the pitch moves with the speed, so keep the adjustment small.

Expressive Delivery

You can make narration more expressive by describing the emotion or delivery style you want. You can direct how the voice sounds:

"Generate narration where the speaker whispers 'I have a secret' then excitedly says 'It's going to be amazing!'"

"Create a voiceover that starts sarcastic and then gets genuinely excited"

You can call for anything from a hushed whisper to full-on excitement — laughter, sighs, gasps, a nervous gulp, short or long dramatic pauses, and more. You can also describe the voice itself, like "a low, gravelly voice" or "quiet, measured narration".

These work best when you describe the delivery naturally in your prompt. The AI voice will interpret your direction and adjust its performance accordingly.

Short background sounds can be woven right into the read, too — applause after a punchline, a door slamming, light rain, a phone buzzing:

"Generate narration saying 'And the winner is… you!' followed by applause"

For longer or layered sound design, generate a separate sound effect so you can place and mix it on its own.

Across a multi-sentence voiceover the narrator holds one consistent tone — professional, casual, warm, dramatic — drawn from your brief and the footage it's narrating. When nothing points to a particular tone, StarZero Agents asks you which one you want before generating.

Automatic Captions for Narration

Generated narration automatically supports captions. When you enable captions on your project, each word of your narration appears on screen exactly when it's spoken — just like captions from your video clips. There's no extra step needed; if captions are enabled, your narration is included automatically.

If a narration clip overlaps with a video clip that already has captions, the video's captions take priority to avoid duplicate text on screen.

Using Generated Narration in Your Project

Once generated, the narration becomes a regular audio clip. You can:

  • Position it anywhere on the timeline
  • Adjust the volume to blend with other audio
  • Trim it with in and out points if needed
  • Layer it with background music or video clip audio

Motion graphics can be timed to your narration, so a figure or title lands on the line that mentions it. They follow the narration when you regenerate it or adjust its clip.

Great Uses for Text-to-Speech

Text-to-speech narration is perfect for:

  • Intro and outro voiceovers — "Welcome to this week's episode" or "Thanks for watching"
  • Explanatory narration — Walk viewers through what they're seeing on screen
  • Product descriptions — Describe features or benefits over product footage
  • Quick social content — Add a voice to short-form videos without recording anything
  • Prototyping — Test out a script before investing in professional voice recording

Example Workflow

Here's how you might add narration to a project from start to finish:

  1. Write your script or talking points
  2. Ask StarZero Agents to generate the narration: "Generate narration saying 'Here are the three things you need to know about our new update'"
  3. Place it on the timeline: "Add the narration starting at 2 seconds"
  4. Add background music underneath at low volume for a polished feel
  5. Preview and adjust as needed

In just a few messages, you've got a professional-sounding voiceover without ever touching a microphone.
