Captions

Captions make your videos more accessible, more engaging, and easier to follow — especially on social media where many people watch without sound. StarZero Agents can automatically generate and display captions on your video project using a library of animated caption presets that let you get the look just right.

How Captions Work in StarZero Agents

Captions are generated from the audio transcripts of your video clips. When your videos are processed in your library, StarZero Agents creates a transcript of everything that's said. Captions use these transcripts to display the right words at the right time. This also works with separated vocal tracks — if you've split audio into vocals and background, captions are generated from the vocals automatically.

Captions are applied as an overlay across your entire timeline. You don't need to enable them clip by clip — one caption preset covers the whole project.

Caption Presets

Instead of manually configuring individual style options, StarZero Agents uses caption presets — ready-made caption styles with built-in animations and visual effects. You can browse and apply caption presets in two ways — by asking in the chat, or by clicking the Captions icon in the Editor Side Panel. Either way, you get a visual gallery where you can:

• Browse all available caption styles with live animated previews
• Compare different looks side by side
• Try style variants — many presets offer multiple variants (for example, different color schemes or animation speeds)
• Preview with a custom font — paste a Google Fonts URL or a direct font link to see how each preset looks with your chosen typeface (chat gallery only)
• Select the one you like and apply it with a single click

Currently available presets include:

• Word Highlight — A full sentence appears on screen, and each word changes color as it's spoken. Clean and readable.
• Word Background Highlight — Similar to Word Highlight, but a colored background box slides behind the active word for a bolder look.
• Word by Word — One large word at a time with a pop-in animation. Bold and attention-grabbing — great for social media.
• Kamua — Progressive word-reveal captions with per-line background boxes and a smooth slide-up entrance animation.

The gallery makes it easy to find the right look without trial and error.

Customizing the Look

After choosing a preset, you can still adjust how it appears on screen:

• Position and size — Control where captions appear and how much of the frame they occupy
• Style variant — Switch between the preset's built-in variants for different color schemes or animation styles
• Custom font — Use any font by providing a Google Fonts URL or a direct font file link

Automatic Regeneration

One of the nice things about captions in StarZero Agents is that they stay in sync with your project automatically. When you add, remove, or rearrange clips on your timeline, the captions regenerate to match the new structure. You don't need to redo anything — it just works. Undo and redo also keep captions in sync.

Only One Caption Preset at a Time

Your project can have one caption preset active at a time. If you want to switch to a different style, just ask — StarZero Agents will replace the current one. This keeps things simple and avoids overlapping caption layers.

Excluding Individual Clips

If a clip already has captions or subtitles burned into the video, you can tell StarZero Agents to skip that clip during caption generation. This prevents duplicate captions from stacking on top of each other. See Enabling and Disabling Captions for details.

Fixing Mistakes

Auto-generated transcripts are good, but they're not perfect. Names, brand terms, and technical words sometimes get transcribed incorrectly. StarZero Agents lets you fix these mistakes directly, and the corrections carry forward into your captions permanently.

The simplest way to get started is just to ask:
