Getting the Best Search Results

The quality of your search results depends heavily on how you describe what you're looking for. Here are proven strategies for getting StarZero Agents to find exactly what you need.

Be Specific About Visuals

Vague descriptions return vague results. Add concrete details about what you expect to see on screen.

Instead of...Try...
"Find a person""Find a person in a red jacket standing near a car"
"Show me the office""Show me a wide shot of the open-plan office with people at desks"
"Find an outdoor scene""Find clips shot outdoors at night with city lights in the background"

The more specific your visual description, the more precise your results will be.

Use Exact Phrases for Dialogue

When you know what was said, use the exact words. StarZero Agents can search transcripts for specific phrases.

"Find clips where someone says 'we need to rethink our approach'"

"Show me the part where they mention 'quarterly revenue'"

If you don't remember the exact phrasing, describe the topic instead:

"Find the section where they discuss their revenue numbers for the quarter"

Add Context Clues

Small details help StarZero Agents narrow down the right moments:

  • Time of day — "nighttime," "early morning," "golden hour"
  • Camera angle — "close-up," "wide shot," "overhead"
  • Setting — "indoors," "on stage," "in a kitchen," "at a desk"
  • Activity — "walking," "presenting slides," "laughing," "shaking hands"

"Find a close-up of someone speaking at a podium, indoors, with a large audience visible"

You don't have to search your entire library every time. Tell StarZero Agents where to look:

"Search only in the first interview with Dr. Martinez"

"Look through all the conference keynotes but skip the panel discussions"

"Find clips from the videos I selected"

Start Broad, Then Narrow

A great approach is to start with a wider search and refine from there:

  1. Broad: "Find clips about product demos"
  2. Narrow: "From those results, show only clips where the speaker mentions pricing"
  3. Act: "Add the first three clips to my project"

Each follow-up builds on the previous results, so you're progressively filtering down to exactly what you need.

Combine Multiple Criteria

You can ask for clips that match several criteria at once:

"Find clips that show both a product on screen and someone explaining how it works"

"Find moments where there's audience laughter and the speaker is standing at the front of the room"

Avoid Vague Requests

StarZero Agents works best with objective, concrete criteria. Subjective requests are better suited for analysis, not search.

Vague (use analysis instead)Concrete (use search)
"Find the best moments""Find 5 moments with big audience reactions"
"Show me the funniest clips""Find clips where the audience is laughing"
"What are the highlights?""Find clips where someone says 'this changed everything'"

Search vs. Analysis: A Quick Guide

  • Use search when you're looking for specific, concrete things: objects, phrases, visuals, actions, settings. Things that are clearly either there or not.

  • Use analysis when you want interpretation: the funniest moments, recurring themes, emotional tone, comparisons between videos, or creative suggestions for what to include.

If you're not sure which approach to use, just describe what you want. StarZero Agents will figure out the best way to find it.

Example: Refining a Search Step by Step

Here's a realistic flow for finding the right clips for a social media post:

  1. "Find clips showing our team working in the office" -- gets 15 results
  2. "From those, only show clips where people are collaborating or talking to each other" -- narrows to 7
  3. "Show me just the ones that are at least 5 seconds long" -- narrows to 4
  4. "Add the second and fourth clips to my project" -- done
